doXmenu is a digital product created by doXevo; this entry covers the digital menu web application itself, designed and developed by doXevo as a separate piece of work from its marketing landing page.

Overview

doXmenu is a web application that gives restaurants, cafés and other hospitality businesses digital menus their guests open by scanning a QR code. It is a digital product created by doXevo — designed and developed by the studio as its own product, and a separate piece of work from the doXmenu marketing landing page, which has its own case study.

The problem it solves

A printed menu is frozen at the moment of printing. Dishes change, prices change, items run out mid-service — and every change either misleads the guest or forces another print run. doXmenu replaces that cycle with a menu that lives on the web, so the version a guest opens at the table is always the current one.

The QR code is what makes the model practical in a hospitality setting. There is nothing to install and nothing to explain: a guest points a camera at a code on the table, and the menu opens in the browser they already have.

The guest experience

The guest flow is the least forgiving part of the product, and it shaped the design more than anything else. A person scanning a code at a table is a cold visitor on unknown hardware — any phone, any browser, possibly a weak connection, often dim light and one free hand. The menu therefore has to open fast, read clearly and navigate simply, with every screen built for quick scanning rather than study.

Menu content is typeset the way a good printed menu is: clear sections, dish names that stand out, descriptions set for comfortable reading at arm’s length — and navigation that stays within reach of a thumb.

Designing for the business side

A digital menu is only as good as it is current, so keeping it current has to be effortless for the people running a busy venue. The management side of doXmenu is designed around that reality: updating a menu should be something staff can do in a spare minute, not a task that waits for a quiet day.

  • Categories and items edited with one-toggle availability — sold out or seasonal content is hidden, not deleted
  • Item content edited per language, with one-tap translation to all of a venue’s enabled languages
  • Per-item photos, badges (House Special, Vegan and more), ingredients and prices with currency options
  • Branding controls — per-element colors, logo and background art — with a live phone preview beside them
  • QR code generation in multiple styles, ready to download and print
  • Visit analytics with a busiest-hours heatmap in the venue’s local time
  • Team access by role, so staff can be invited with edit-only permissions

Engineering approach

The engineering priorities follow the guest flow. First load is the moment that matters most — a menu that keeps a hungry table waiting has failed — so the application is built to put readable menu content on screen quickly, including on cellular connections. From there the priorities are predictable behaviour across devices and browsers, and graceful degradation when the network is poor.

Built for real hospitality settings

Software for hospitality is used in conditions most software never meets: bright terraces and dim dining rooms, guests of every age and level of technical comfort, staff in the middle of service. Those conditions set the product’s standards — high contrast and generous type for legibility, interactions that need no instructions, and flows short enough to finish before the conversation at the table moves on.

Results

doXmenu wins its customers through search engines and AI assistants rather than advertising. As of September 2026 it is established across Europe, with guides ranking for QR-menu searches country by country, and it has begun signing venues in Africa and the Middle East. Venues in Germany, Iraq and Nigeria, among others, arrived after finding it that way.

The platform and its marketing site are built on the same principles doXevo applies for clients: answer-shaped content in several languages, structured data on every page, fast pages, and factual, checkable claims. The result is a product that assistants describe accurately when asked about digital menus.

doXmenu positions itself as the world’s most customizable digital QR menu, and the claim is specific rather than decorative: venues control every colour of the menu, their logo and background art, the QR code style, menus in up to 17 languages with one-tap translation, item badges and ingredients, pop-up promotions and sponsor banners, all from one dashboard. That depth of customization, with a live menu for real venues behind it, is what search engines and AI assistants find when they look.
